Back to Back CEO Replacements, Eric Schmidt and Steve Jobs

eric-schmidt-google-ceoSteve Jobs Apple CEOOne CEO after another, Eric Schmidt Google CEO no more, Steve Jobs taking a break from it all. It must be CEO camp season, I guess CEOs need their vacation too. I think this a much needed rest for the both of them, I mean they work all day and all night right?

Early this week CEO Steve Jobs took a medical leave of absence. Tim Cook took over as CEO of Apple in charge of their daily operation. In his letter to his team CEO Steve Jobs wrote:

Team,

At my request, the board of directors has granted me a medical leave of absence so I can focus on my health. I will continue as CEO and be involved in major strategic decisions for the company.

I have asked Tim Cook to be responsible for all of Apple’s day to day operations. I have great confidence that Tim and the rest of the executive management team will do a terrific job executing the exciting plans we have in place for 2011.

I love Apple so much and hope to be back as soon as I can. In the meantime, my family and I would deeply appreciate respect for our privacy.

Steve

Oh well, I guess he will be back soon with a new press release for Apple, Steve good luck and God bless!

Meanwhile in the land of Search Engines… Eric Schmidt stepped down from his position as CEO of Google, replacing him would be co-founder Larry Page. Schmidt will still be Executive Chairman, and will act as adviser to Page and co-founder Sergey Brin, focused on external things like “deals, partnerships, customers and broader business relationships, government outreach and technology thought leadership.
