No Apple on the MWC 2011 and yet rumors are spreading like wildfire about a cheap iPhone. The iPhone Nano rumors could be found on WSJ and some other news websites. No technical specs yet, but you have to wonder what will be inside this Apple product. Some sources say that the phone would not have an internal memory and instead would be using Apple’s MobileMe service. This suggests that the phone would be capable of WiFi and would not be able to run apps.
Could this be Apple’s strategy to take over the mid-range and low-range phones? I am inclined to think that the price for this would be around the cost of an iPod Nano or an iPod Touch which is less that half the price of an iPhone 4. Give this thing good reception, ability to take pictures, listen to music and browse through WiFi, then this device would sell like hotcakes especially for those who could care less about apps. Nokia better be prepared to take another slam on its doors if this rumor is true, given the above functionality this would be a great competitor on the dumb phones department.
